Melina

On what is considered the first night on the Road to WrestleMania XXV, Melina defeated Beth Phoenix at the Royal Rumble to begin her third reign as Women's Champion.

SmackDown Champions

Edge

Less than two hours after losing the WWE Title in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match, Edge created an opportunity to take Kofi Kingston's place in the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out. He overcame five opponents to earn the gold.

Triple H

In a WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match, Triple H survived five opponents, including then-WWE Champion Edge, to obtain the gold at No Way Out.

Shelton Benjamin

At The Great American Bash on July 20, 2008, the Gold Standard lived up to his moniker as he won the United States Championship from Matt Hardy.

Maryse

Maryse defeated Michelle McCool on SmackDown to become the new Divas Champion.

Carlito

Brothers Carlito & Primo Colon defeated Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions. The duo captured the gold in their first title opportunity, and only their second match together.

Shortly after winning the Slammy Award for Best Tag Team of the Year, The Miz & John Morrison provided further evidence to their claims of being the greatest tag team of the 21st century by defeating CM Punk & Kofi Kingston at a WWE Live Event in Hamilton, Ontario to become the new World Tag Team Champions.
